There is no shop in Mataram that sells a start capacitor for a water chiller. So every unit we send across the Lombok Strait travels with a parts box inside the same crate, enough for the first three years, because a two-day ferry is a long way to come for a relay.
Technically Lombok reads like coastal Bali: mains water at 28-30 degrees, daytime air 24-33, a closed 400-litre tub absorbing 516 watts, a 1.5 PK chiller delivering 1.99 kW and pulling the tub from 29 to 5 degrees in 7.6 hours. The electricity is the same Rp 214,000 a month. What is different is everything that happens when a part fails.
Every Lombok crate carries a start capacitor, a run capacitor, a contactor, a flow switch, a spare temperature probe and four filter cartridges, plus a laminated wiring diagram in English and Indonesian. Nine faults in ten on a chiller of this size are one of those items, and a local electrician can fit any of them on a video call with our workshop in Cikarang. The tenth fault is a compressor, and for that we ship a replacement unit and collect the faulty one — the reason we would rather you never have to find out is that the round trip is a week.
This is also why we fit the inverter line more often on Lombok than anywhere else. An on-off compressor starts a dozen or more times a day, and every start is the hardest moment in its life; an inverter chiller holds a low speed continuously, starts a handful of times a day and draws 25 to 30 per cent less. On an island where a failure costs a ferry crossing, fewer starts is worth more than the price difference.
Household connections in Mataram, Cakranegara and Ampenan are commonly 1,300 to 3,500 VA. A 1.5 PK chiller draws 1,400 watts, which a 1,300 VA connection cannot carry alongside a pump and an air conditioner — so for a good share of Lombok jobs the first task is a PLN upgrade, and that is measured in weeks rather than days. We ask for a photograph of your meter before quoting, because it changes the schedule more often than the tub does — and if a smaller tub would avoid the upgrade entirely, the chiller calculator will show it in ten seconds.
Voltage is the second question. Outside the city, evening voltage on the distribution network sags, and compressor damage below 180 volts without a stabiliser is excluded from our warranty. We measure at your socket during the survey and fit a stabiliser where the reading justifies it — roughly Rp 2 million, against a compressor that costs many times that.
Three quite different jobs sit under this page. Beachfront resorts at Senggigi, Mangsit and Malimbu take salt spray directly onto the condenser, so fins are coated and rinsed every three months rather than every twelve. The south coast — Kuta Lombok, Mandalika, Gerupuk and Selong Belanak — is surf and race-circuit recovery, where a two-seat tub gets ordered far more often than a single because people arrive in groups. And the Gili islands have no cars at all: shells travel there as modules under 120 kilograms each, carried by boat and cidomo, which adds a week and rules out cast terrazzo entirely.
Western Lombok is drier than Bali and municipal supply is intermittent in several districts. Plan on filling from a tanker at least once. A tub with a cartridge and ozone needs a full change only every four to eight weeks, which is roughly 4,800 litres a year rather than the 20,800 litres a weekly dump would cost you — the same arithmetic that dominates Labuan Bajo.
The route is Tabanan to Padangbai, the Lembar ferry, then a truck on the far side: one to two days on the road and water, inside twenty working days from deposit to cold test. A technician travels with the crate, because a single visit has to finish the job. If the tub is for a villa you do not live in, we train one member of your staff before we leave and the first year includes two return visits. The shell price is identical. What is added is the ferry crossing and the technician's travel, which falls inside the Rp 7.5-22 million outside-Java band and is fixed in writing before the deposit. Running costs are the same Rp 214,000 a month as coastal Bali.

Yes, as modules under 120 kilograms so four people can carry each piece from the boat by cidomo. That means stainless or acrylic rather than cast terrazzo, and about a week more than a Mataram address.
It varies sharply by district and several areas are brackish near the coast. We test before quoting and fit a pre-filter where needed. Titanium heat exchangers are standard on every unit we build, so chloride is not a threat to the chiller itself.
