Scheduled service
Nearly every chiller we repair has failed for the same two reasons: condenser fins choked with dust or salt, and water whose pH nobody ever measured. Both take twenty minutes a month to prevent, and this page is that schedule.
The coastal column applies within two kilometres of the shoreline — Canggu, Sanur, Nongsa, Tanjung Bunga and every other seaside town. At that distance salt aerosol settles on the condenser fins and forms a layer that traps heat, and cooling capacity falls 12 to 18 per cent in three months with no washing at all.

The last four rows are what an annual service visit contains. The first two visits are free in year one on every tub we install, wherever it is. After that you can take a contract or call us per visit.
Looking after a tub in Salatiga on 22-degree spring water and looking after one in Pekanbaru on peat water at pH 4 to 5 are two different jobs. We set up the inlet for local water at installation, but it helps to know what you are up against, because the symptoms are easy to misread as equipment faults.
| Water | Example cities | What goes wrong | What we fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peat, yellow, pH 4-5 | Pekanbaru, Samarinda, Jambi | Grout and seals eroded within a year, water never clear | Calcite neutraliser and activated carbon |
| Brackish, high chloride | Sidoarjo, Tanjungpinang, Banjarmasin | 304 steel freckles with rust, copper exchangers leak | Titanium exchanger and a 316 body |
| Hard, high lime | Tangerang, Cirebon, Kupang | Scale on the evaporator, capacity fades slowly | Resin softener and an annual citric flush |
| Shallow well, high iron | Depok, Bekasi, Medan Johor | Water turns brown hours after filling | 50-micron pre-filter and ion-exchange media |
| Seasonally turbid river water | Jambi, Samarinda, Palembang | Pump wears fast, cartridges gone in two weeks | 200-litre settling tank ahead of the tub |
| Sulphur from mountain wells | Magelang, Muntilan | Copper blackens, smell appears as water cools | Activated carbon and a titanium exchanger |
| Desalinated sea water | Gili Trawangan, Labuan Bajo | Minerals unbalanced, pH jumps around | Remineralisation and fortnightly pH checks |
Cold water slows bacteria down but does not stop them, and sweat and skin oil go in with every session. With no sanitation at all, water used by two people a day is cloudy in three days. With a cartridge and ozone it holds for four to eight weeks.
For one or two users a day, ozone alone is enough and UV can wait. For gyms, clinics and nightly rental villas we fit both from the start, because there the number of users per day is not something you control and the water has to be safe without anyone having to think about it each morning. Prices for each are on the pricing page and the selection logic is on ice bath accessories.
Rental villas are the case where maintenance goes wrong most predictably, and it is never the equipment. The tub is used by people who will not be there tomorrow, the housekeeper was never shown what the cartridge does, and the manager only hears about it when a guest complains that the water is cloudy. The fix is boring: one named person, a laminated daily sheet by the plant cupboard, and a fortnightly reminder in whatever system already runs the property. We train that person at handover as part of installation and cold test, and we will retrain a new one on any service visit at no charge, because staff change and the tub does not.
Our shell warranty is three years and the chiller warranty two. The following three sit outside it, and all three are consequences of maintenance not done rather than defects. We put them here with numbers so there are no surprises later.
A stabiliser, a pre-filter and a fin comb. Three items, under Rp 3 million together, and between them they cover the causes of almost every chargeable repair we have carried out in five years. The full list of extras is on the pricing page.
A contract makes sense if you would rather not think about the schedule, or if the tub is used by other people — villa guests, gym members, clinic patients — so that nobody feels personally responsible for the cartridge.
| Plan | What it covers | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 2 visits, fin wash, cartridge change, pH and TDS check | Rp 1.8 million, Java and Bali |
| Regular | 4 visits, plus probe calibration and refrigerant check | Rp 3.4 million, Java and Bali |
| Commercial | 12 monthly visits, written temperature log, sanitation, 24-hour response | Rp 9.6 million per tub |
| Outside Java | 2 visits, technician travel, consumable spares kit | Rp 6.5-14 million by island |
Outside a contract, a single visit is Rp 750,000 in Java and Bali plus parts. For the other islands we almost always advise a contract, because one technician's airfare already exceeds the difference between plans. How we prepare an island tub so it rarely needs a visit at all is explained under inter-island delivery.
With a cartridge and ozone, every four to eight weeks for one or two users a day. Without filtration, three days. A gym tub with more than ten users a day and automatic dosing is changed monthly, with ten per cent fresh water added weekly.
You can, but it rarely pays. Holding temperature uses about 4.9 kWh a day; pulling back down from 29 to 5 degrees uses around 11 kWh in one run and takes eight hours. For trips under ten days, leave it running with the lid on.
Kill the power at the breaker, spray from the inside outward with low-pressure fresh water, then straighten any bent fins with a fin comb. Never use a pressure washer: the fins are thin aluminium and will lie flat, and flattened fins block airflow far worse than dust ever did.
A circulation pump runs four to six years in daily use and costs Rp 2.1-3.6 million to replace. A 20-micron cartridge lasts 8 to 12 weeks, or as little as two if the water carries sand and there is no pre-filter.
In Java and Bali we come ourselves within two to five working days. Elsewhere we work with local refrigeration technicians we have trained and send parts by air freight, normally resolved within a week. Tell us your city through contact and we will confirm.
Almost always skin oil built up at the waterline rather than bacteria in the body of the water. Wipe the rim and the waterline with a microfibre cloth and a little white vinegar, empty the skimmer basket and run ozone for two hours. If the smell returns within three days, the cartridge is saturated and needs replacing rather than rinsing.

Tell us your city and how many tubs, and we will come back with a contract price and a visit schedule that makes sense for that distance.
We reply with sizing, the right chiller and a full price.
